Introduction

Think laterally.......

Choose a hospital bed with lateral tilt
After finding huge success in the UK with the ELEGANZA range of bedframes, Linet UK is expanding its product offering with the introduction of an innovative new bedframe.
The Latera Acute four-section electric profiling bedframe with a 15° lateral tilt significantly eases the physical strain on nursing staff helping them perform routine nursing activities with the minimum of effort.

Positioning to prevent pressure ulcers, making the bed, patient hygiene and skincare, changing of incontinence pads, post-operative drainage - all these procedures require the patient to be placed in a lateral position.

These routine activities often mean the physical handling of the patient, several times a day, often in non-ergonomic positions. As such they can be the source of excessive physical strain on nurses which increases their risk of injury.

The Latera Acute makes it possible for nursing staff to position, turn or transfer patients with ease and with greater frequency. Tilting the mattress platform laterally shifts the patient’s centre of gravity towards the side of the bed and thus the patient is easier to turn. However, the patient does not roll independently; partial assistance by nursing staff to initiate the turn is necessary and as such turning is always under the nurse’s control.

Studies have shown that when compared to a standard bed the force required for turning a patient on the Latera Acute bed is ten times lower, while the time required, for example, for changing linen on the Latera Acute bed is reduced by up to 20% and the energy exerted when turning a patient onto their side and performing nursing activities is 30% lower.

The unique three-column construction of the Latera Acute ensures perfect stability for lateral tilt adjustment and smooth, stable and efficient movement for height, profiling and Trendelenberg positioning.
