Hospitals take delivery of new state of the art beds
Linet UK has recently completed the delivery and installation of 413 Eleganza 3 bedframes for Doncaster and Bassetlaw NHS Hospitals Foundation Trust over the three sites of Bassetlaw Hospital Montagu Hospital and Doncaster Royal Infirmary.
The arrival of these state of the art electric profiling bedframes was part of a Trust replacement programme designed to improve patient comfort and independence.
Tracy Vernon, Lead Nurse, Tissue Viability, said: “EPBs make a significant difference to the patient experience from both the perspective of patients and staff.”
Electric profiling means that the beds can be raised and lowered at the touch of a button; the patient can make other adjustments, like the angle of the headrest, to suit themselves. All functions of the beds are electrically controlled, giving patients the independence to adjust the beds to meet their own comfort needs at the touch of a button.
Tracy added: “The beds promote comfort and encourage patients’ independence, while actively supporting treatment and nursing procedures.”
The features of the beds help to reduce the physical demands of manual handling tasks for staff. This will, in turn, reduce back injuries and other common problems associated with lifting, turning, and caring for patients.
The streamlined design and non-absorbent surfaces of the new electric beds ensure that they are easy to clean and decontaminate, and also makes the beds easier to manoeuvre.
The Electric Profiling Beds (EPBs) will replace a significant number of the standard hospital beds that are currently in use across the three hospital sites.
