The 15 employees of Trader Media flew out to Tanzania, to complete their trek to the summit of the world’s highest freestanding mountain and Africa’s highest peak Mt. Kilimanjaro. Standing at 5,895m, its snow capped summit rises high above the dusty plains and huge permanent glaciers flow down from the summit. The Kilimanjaro team faced a challenging trek at extreme altitude, pushing them to the limits both physically and mentally.
Liam Power, Charity Co-ordinator at Trader Media says: “We saw many ups and downs along the way but we all overcame them to reach the summit, this was an amazing feat for a group of our size”.
The money raised from the extraordinary Kilimanjaro Trek has enabled Willowbrook Hospice to purchase 10 x state-of-the-art Latera bedframes and 10 x Effecta mattresses from Linet UK for their In-Patient Unit.
Nichola Saunders, Fundraiser at Willowbrook Hospice said, “We are delighted that the team from Autotrader chose to support Willowbrook Hospice in this way. “Captain” Liam Power was fantastic in motivating the team, with such enthusiasm and creativity. The amount that they managed to raise is amazing and a testament to all of their hard work.”
The Latera four-section electric profiling bedframes with lateral tilt will help to enhance patient comfort and also significantly ease the physical strain on caring staff at the hospice helping them perform routine nursing activities with the minimum of effort.
Chris Haywood, Head of Medical Services at Willowbrook Hospice said, “These beds are vital to maintain patient comfort. The Kilimanjaro Trek is such a fantastic way to raise the funds, and I was delighted to meet such a lovely group of young people.”
Michele Madden, Community Relations Manager for Auto Trader says, “The Auto Trader Kilimanjaro team have been working incredibly hard to meet their fundraising target as well as making time to get in the shape for the physical aspects of the trek. We are very proud of the commitment they’ve made to Willowbrook Hospice, which is such a worthwhile cause.”

About Willowbrook Hospice
Willowbrook Hospice cares for people over eighteen years of age with life-limiting illnesses living in the St Helens and Knowsley area.
As a Charity, they make no charge for their services, but rely on their own fundraising efforts and a modest contribution from the NHS. This enables them to provide support to patients and their families according to their individual needs.
Since the Hospice opened in 1997, they have cared for over 4,000 patients. During that time their services have grown so much that they now receive over 850 patient referrals a year.
