Linet UK at the BACCN

Linet UK will once again be present as a main sponsor of the BACCN conference and would be delighted to welcome you onto stand 37/38 to be the first to see our brand new critical care therapy system which combines advanced innovations with functional features to ensure that it is an accomplished member of any critical care team.

The 25th annual BACCN (British Association of Critical Care Nurses) Conference will be held on Monday 13th and Tuesday 14th September 2010. This year's Conference, "Taking Pride in Practice, Celebrating 25 Years" will take place in Merseyside on Southport's elegant Promenade, at the Southport Theatre and Convention Centre.

The British Association of Critical Care Nurses is one of the largest Critical Care organisations in the UK. Its annual conference now has a reputation for delivering imaginative conference programmes that are educationally stimulating and informative. The Conference welcomes all professionals within the Critical Care field regardless of level or grade. This year will be no exception with a comprehensive programme, delivered by professionals in the field of critical care.

We will also be hosting a sponsored session by Stephen Wanless, Senior Lecturer, Clinical Skills Dept., Birmingham City University on “Posture and positioning of nursing staff in an Intensive Care Unit: A vibrotactile approach.”

The session will review a physical patient handling simulation within an Intensive Care Unit with a real-time motion capture performance in order to allow a user to interact within a virtual world. While following the user’s motions, the simulated character is able to perform the move.

The introduction of a haptic feedback suit aims to provide the user with vibrotactile feedback on their performance, highlighting areas of poor posture and positioning by vibrating if they move from the “norm”. It will provide the user with a visualisation which will give them feedback on their posture enabling them to change their behaviour and attitude towards patient handling and assist them in retaining the information longer, moving from novice to expert.

This session will take place in the Lakeside Suite at 2:50pm on Monday 13th September.
